FAQ

We have a limited budget. How can we hire you to speak?

We have many creative options for those who have a limited budget. We’ve put them on THIS PAGE for your convenience. Review it and we will be happy to work out all the details with you. Don’t worry; if you’re willing to get creative…we can make it work.

Do you charge travel expenses?

There are two choices. Most clients just have us invoice actual expenses after the event. They include ground and air transportation, meals, and parking. Other clients prefer to have a single line-item fee for the program so that they know in advance what the total cost will be. Just let us know in the office what you prefer and we’ll make it easy for you. (Will travels from New Brunswick, Canada – or wherever his last speech was. If Will works for more than one client on the same trip he pro-rates the expenses and everybody saves money!)

How can we save money with Will?

Ask me to do a basketball camp or clinic at your school for your teams, or in your community for club teams. I’ll even help take care of the registration. You will get to know me a bit better and save a significant amount of money. I’ll get to surprise old ladies at your local Wal-Mart.

Do we need to be concerned about audio visual stuff?

Yes, but we keep it simple. The most important thing is that I must be seen (stop smiling) (i.e. lights/stage) and heard well (microphone). If it helps, download the presentation preparation document here.

How do you charge? By the event or the hour?

The fee is per event. We figure once I am committed to you, I can’t work anywhere else.

How did you get started speaking?

I was coaching kids once a week and the parents watching really enjoyed the message in my methods. One of the parents, a teacher, asked me to visit her class to share more of that message with her students. The rest, as they say, is history.

What type of events do you speak at?

I speak at a range of different events: Corporate events, middle school assemblies, high school assemblies, university events, student leadership conferences, coaching seminars, educator conferences and more. More in-depth info on the SPEAKING page.

Do you offer birthday parties?

Actually, I do. I’ve been appearing at birthday parties for quite some time. I like to think I’m a lot less scary than a clown. I have not made any kids cry (yet).

What type of books do you read?

The life of Pie, The Gunslinger Series, The Punch, Facing Ali, anything from Stephen King, John Maxwell and Dr. Seuss (I’m a Dad). I mainly read books now that either teaches me about myself or biographies about all the amazing teachers in modern history.

Are all your stories true?

Yes. All of them are true. I’ve had a pretty special life so far.

What do you do for fun?

Eat. Eating is fun. I like seafood, especially. When I see food, I eat!

What are your favourite movies?

The One, The Shawshank Redemption, Life of Private Ryan, Heat, Ace Ventura Pet Detective, Dumb and Dumber, He Got Game, Brooklyn Babylon, Ali, Shrek, The Grudge and horror films!

What’s on your play list?

I have hundreds of c.d.’s. Yes I own c.d.’s. Yes, I’m showing my age. Let it go. I love to bob my head or dance to music.

Who has inspired you?

A Canadian athlete who finished 10th at the 1984 Olympic Games, yet celebrated as if he won gold!

How did you overcome obstacles you faced?

God’s Grace. Sugar. Lots of both. And, of course, plenty of Willpower

What are you favourite places to visit?

I enjoy the Carribean, Dubai, Nigeria, Paris, Toronto, Vancouver, Chicago, New York City (Go Knicks, Giants and Yankees!), and pretty much any city with a zoo or amusement park.
